Central West Claying use a spreading system developed with emphasis on accuracy and evenness of spread. The reason is simple - too much clay can cause sealing and incorporation problems and is a waste of money and too little clay is ineffective in curing water repellency.

Our clay spreading rates vary according to requirements:

  • 40 - 50 ton per ha for stabilisation i.e. post fire
  • 100 - 150 ton per ha to ameliorate non-wetting gravel
  • 150 - 200 ton per ha for non-wetting sand

Thorough incorporation is vital, this can be achieved with a number of workings using various implements eg. scarifier, offset discs, smudge bar, rotary hoe.

Our equipment adapts very well to various spreading applications, mulch, manure, gravel, sand, fill, at what ever the required rates.

Pits can be developed for alternative uses i.e. Aquaculture, silage, water storage.

We will work on either hourly rate or quoted price, when you contact us you will probably be pleasantly surprised.

Incorporation

Once you have the correct amount of clay evenly spread it is very important to get the incorporation right.

Various methods have been used successfully including offset discs, scarifier and rotary hoe. Offset discs and the scarifier are OK but not capable of working to more than 150mm and need multiple workings to achieve effective incorporation, where as the rotary hoe can achieve excellent, even incorporation down to a depth of 300mm with one pass.

The paddock pictured on the right, was being worked to 200mm at a rate of 1.1ha per hour with a 130hp tractor. We have the pictured 3.1 metre Howard Rotary Hoe available to clients for hire at $25 per hour.
